Science in the Classroom

IMG_8423.jpg

Unlike reading, writing, and arithmetic, science is not a ubiquitous component of many primary and secondary school curricula, and when it is, most students largely learn about science through a screen or the pages of a textbook. We want to change that and bring the fun of scientific exploration to the classroom!

We currently have three classroom initiatives. First, we have brought our programming to a classroom in DC and it was a great success! As we grow our volunteer base, we plan to bring our program to classrooms more often. Second, we would like to train parents and volunteers in our curriculum so that they can bring our programs to the classroom. Third, we would like to partner with teachers on professional development days to teach them the basics of our program so they can promote science exploration in their classrooms.
